Kidde KN-COSM-IB is both a Carbon Monoxide (CO) and smoke alarm. With two safety features combined in a single unit, it provides maximum protection to every family member. This unit comes with a voice warning system that specifies whether it has detected smoke or increased CO levels, or if the battery needs to be replaced. It continuously monitors smoke and CO even during power outages by using its 9 volt battery backup.
Its Smart Hush feature lets you silence non-threatening alarms. KN-COSM-IB can be connected with other smoke alarm units in your home. Safety experts recommend having your alarm units connected with each other to create an early warning system. When a single unit detects fire and starts to alarm, other units will respond and also alarm. This system will enable you to hear the alarm anywhere in the house. This unit comes with a 5-year limited warranty and has an estimated 7-year life span.

Carbon Monoxide and Smoke Alarm comes with a voice warning system that specifies what type of danger or warning it
detects, whether it is a smoke or CO danger, a battery replacement warning, or if the unit is in a hush mode.
Alarm Warnings
Fire: When smoke or fire is detected, a red LED light will flash combined with 3 long alarm beeps and
a verbal warning that says “Fire, Fire”. It will only stop until smoke is gone.
Carbon Monoxide: The unit will send out four short alarm beeps and a verbal warning that says “Warning, Carbon Monoxide”. The alarm pattern continues until CO is eliminated or when the unit is reset.
Low Battery: When the battery has low power, it will release one chirp followed by a voice warning that says “Low Battery”. A red LED light will flash. It will continue to chirp and sound every minute for the first hour. After the first hour, it will continue the same pattern except for the voice warning which will only sound every 15 minutes.
Hush Indication: Unit will say “Hush Activated” or “Hush Cancelled”

Peak Level Memory
If you press the test/reset button and the unit detects a CO level of 100
parts per minute (ppm) or more, it will send out a voice warning that says “Carbon Monoxide Previously
Detected”.
Can be Connected to other Alarm Units
Kidde KN-COSM-IB CO and smoke alarm unit can be
connected to other alarm units. Interconnected smoke alarms will give you increased protection from possible smoke
or fire breakouts. This means that when a single unit detects fire, all units will respond and send out an alarm.
This gives you more time to react to an emergency.
Smart Hush Feature
Kidde KN-COSM-IB comes with a Hush feature which enables you to silence
the unit during non-threatening alarms such as those caused by cooking. This will stop the alarm for around 10
minutes. If it detects smoke that is not too thick, it will silence itself automatically followed by a voice that
says “Hush Mode Activated”. A green LED light will flash every 2 seconds for 10 minutes.
Test/Reset Button, 9-volt Battery Backup and End-of-Life Warning
To make sure the unit
functions properly, you can press the test/reset button. A red LED light flashes every 30 to 40 seconds which
indicates that the unit is still in good condition. Kidde KN-COSM-IB also has a 9-volt battery backup to ensure
continuous smoke and CO monitoring even during power outages. The unit also comes with an end-of-life warning. It
will ‘chirp’ every 30 seconds which means that you have to replace the unit.

This product is very practical and efficient. The idea to combine two critical safety features into one is excellent. Advantages over other alarms include the voice warning system and can be interconnected with other alarm units in the house.
